CAMUSS

International Symposium on Cellular Automata Modeling for Urban and Spatial Systems

November 8–10, 2012 — Oporto, Portugal

CAMUSS, the International Symposium on Cellular Automata Modeling for Urban and Spatial Systems, will be held in Oporto, Portugal from November 8 to 10, 2012.

After more than three decades of intensive research on the development and application of cellular automata (CA) models to simulate urban and spatial systems, it is the time to gather all the researchers that have participated in this area of research. This Symposium is expected to be a reunion of the CA community across the world, bringing together all the generations of researchers who have gave to CA modeling the complex scientific structure that it currently has.

CAMUSS aims to make a deep reflection on the scientific history of CA in Geography and Urban Studies through the presentation of the state-of-the-art research on CA, and to devise a new research agenda for the next decades in this topic.

Authors are invited to submit a short paper (up to 4000 words) by March 31, 2012 which will be reviewed for the Scientific Committee of  the Symposium and included in the book of proceedings upon acceptance.

Authors of selected submissions to CAMUSS will be invited to contribute for a comprehensive edited book which will be edited by myself, Prof. Michael Batty (CASA UCL), and Prof. Geoffrey Caruso (University of Luxembourg), and published by a leading publishing company, along with other contributions from a selected group of renowned authors on CA.
