The Department of Urban Planning and Policy in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites nominations and applications for the position of Head. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the growth of the department and a vision for the department’s continued excellence in research, teaching, and service. They will have a visible presence in the Chicago metropolitan region, throughout Illinois, and globally. The department offers a highly-regarded professional degree program, the Masters in Urban Planning and Policy (MUPP), which is accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board. It also hosts a new and rapidly growing Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and a small but selective doctoral program, and the Urban Data Visualization Lab. The department has 18 tenured and tenure-track faculty, and currently 160 MUPP students, 80 undergraduate majors, and 25 Ph.D. students are enrolled.
Located just west of Chicago's Loop, UIC is a Carnegie Research I University (very high research activity). It enrolls 27,000 students and is the largest public research university in the Chicago area. CUPPA was created in 1995 as part of UIC's Great Cities Initiative and houses two academic programs (Urban Planning and Policy and Public Administration). The College also hosts six research centers and institutes: the Survey Research Laboratory, the Great Cities Institute, the Urban Transportation Center, the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy, the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement, and the Voorhees Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
The Head is the administrative officer of the department with responsibility for instructional programs and for administrative, budgetary, promotion, and recruitment matters. The department has a long tradition of shared governance and the Head regularly consults with faculty, students, staff and the departmental Advisory Committee around key decisions. The Head also represents the department within the College, University, and academic and professional communities. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship commensurate with the rank of full professor, exceptional administrative skills, teaching excellence, and demonstrated commitment to community engagement, and social justice. The area of specialization is open but should align with at least one of the department’s concentrations: spatial planning and design; urban transportation; community development; economic development; globalization and international planning; and environmental planning and policy.

The Argentine Regional Science Association (SAER) invites you to participate in the 6th edition of its Annual Conference to be held in May 26‐27, 2015 in San Carlos de Bariloche, organized by the Universidad Nacional de Rio Negro, Sede Andina.
The 6th Annual Conference will cover a wide range of topics on Regional Economics including:

The University of Toledo Intermodal Transportation Institute
Applications and nominations are sought for the position of Director of the University of Toledo’s Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI). The Intermodal Transportation Institute, established in 2004, is an interdisciplinary Institute developed to promote and coordinate UT’s research, education and community engagement relating to transportation and to serve as a portal for external constituencies to access UT’s transportation-related talent and resources. The ITI has a broad agenda of interdisciplinary activities relating to the full spectrum of transportation-related topics of academic interest and of interest to the local community. These include supply chain management and business logistics, the design and planning of intermodal transportation systems, transportation data resources, transportation infrastructure improvements, alternative energy sources for transportation, and land-use planning and transportation needs projections. In addition to research activities, the Institute organizes events and seminars to advance understanding of transportation research in Northwest Ohio and the Great Lakes Region.
The Institute is overseen by a governing board chaired by the Vice President for Government Relations that includes the deans of the colleges of Business and Innovation, Engineering, Language Literature and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The Institute is also supported by an external Advisory Board composed of local business and government leaders.
Applications and nominations are encouraged for exceptional candidates who may come from either an academic or non-academic background. Depending upon the academic qualifications of the successful candidate, the position may carry academic rank in an appropriate department. The Director will be expected to generate external funding to support the Institute, develop external funding opportunities for other faculty members, coordinate research activities with other universities and governmental agencies, and organize and lead proposal development activities. The successful candidate will be recognized on and off campus as a leader in transportation and should bring the following qualifications:
This is a full-time 12 month position that includes summer support and an administrative stipend. If the Director has academic rank, he or she will maintain a portion of his or her duties and responsibilities to the Director’s home department including some teaching and graduate program responsibilities.

The aim of the Summer School is to provide Ph.D. students with the most updated advances in Regional Science from both the theoretical and methodological points of view.
Lectures will be taught by internationally recognized scientists in the field. Participants will also be given the possibility to present their own Ph.D. work, provided that this is sufficiently advanced to be presented and to get useful feedback.
