Call for papers | FIRST WORKSHOP ON URBAN AND REGIONAL ECONOMICS, June 27,28,29, 2017, Bogotá, Colombia

 

Giving the increasing importance of the cities as employment and sustainable living cores within a regional environment, and all the challenges on these areas for policymakers and citizens; the department of economics of the Ponticia Universidad Javeriana and the Banco de la República de Colombia will host their rst workshop on urban and regional to be held in Bogota the 27, 28 and 29 of June 2017. The workshop aims to provide researchers with a space for presenting and discussing research on urban and regional economics.

 

Gilles Duranton (UPenn), Nathaniel Baum-Snow (U. Toronto), Esteban Rossi Hansberg (Princeton), Klaus Desmet (SMU), Alex Anas (University at Bualo), Erick Verhoef (VU Amsterdam), Miguel Angel Garcia Lopez(UAB) are some of the special guest that have conrmed attendance.


Topics
The conference will consider the following topics: location theory, environment and the city, urban spatial structure, policies for competitive cities and regions, regional labor markets, congestion pricing, transport economics, urban inequality and segregation and gender aspects in urban areas, urban economic growth and development. Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome.


The program will include key note presentations from invited speakers and policy makers.

 

Format
Accepted papers will be presented in parallel sessions. We will assign one discussant to every paper in its eld of expertise, so each person accepted will have the responsibility to present and discuss one paper.

Registration will be open after May 2nd. There will be a registration fee. Participants and attendees should cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.

3-year Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in Marine and Coastal
Conservation and Management at NUI Galway and the Marine Institute, Ireland

The researcher will work on a project to develop a quantitative, spatially explicit ecological risk assessment framework for development in Irish coastal waters. The framework is intended to demonstrate the use of systematic spatial planning conservation methodology as a decision support system for consent authorities. The successful candidate will work on a research award at NUI Galway, Discipline of Geography in close collaboration with the Marine Institute and the Socio-economic Marine Research Unit (SEMRU) at NUI Galway.

The Indonesian Regional Science Association (IRSA) in collaboration with Sam Ratulangi University invites scholars, practitioners and graduate students to submit papers to be presented in the 6th IRSA International Institute. The theme of the conference is Maritime Infrastructure and Regional Development, and it will be held in Manado, North Sulawesi on July 17-18, 2017.

The Latin America Regional Science Association (LARSA) represents the affiliated and common interests of the various regional science organizations of the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

LARSA operates as an objective, scientific body without political, social, financial, or nationalistic bias. It supports its objectives by promoting acquaintance and discussion among regional scientists and with scholars in related fields, by encouraging the publication of scholarly studies, and by performing services to aid the advancement of the field of regional science.

LARSA serves as the organizational body representative of the interests of its institutional and individual members with respect to the Regional Science Association International (RSAI). It affiliates sub-national, national or regional sections of the Regional Science Association International located on Latin America and the Caribbean. The sections are institutional members of LARSA and their individual associates are members of RSAI. Institutional members can simultaneously be members of other supra national associations.
