The Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus) invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Economic Development or Economic Planning. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor starting July 1, 2018. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Planning or a closely related field by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter with expertise in economic development or economic planning. Specific areas of specialization may include (but are not limited to), community or regional economic development, labour, real estate development, innovation in economic development and economic planning, and economic development and economic planning in relation to indigenous peoples or marginalized communities. Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners or eligibility for membership will be considered an asset. The successful candidate must also have a record of excellence in research and teaching. Excellence in research is evidenced primarily by publications in leading journals in the field or a research pipeline that is at high international levels, presentations at significant conferences, a research statement and strong endorsements by referees of high standing. Candidates must also provide evidence of excellence in teaching as demonstrated by a strong teaching dossier, including teaching evaluations and a teaching statement, and strong endorsements from referees. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The St George Campus is located in the heart of Toronto and offers the opportunity to conduct research, teach and live in one of the most diverse cities in the world.
