We would like to inform the international audience that the All-Polish Spatial Economy Society has republished, after a 100 years’ break, an outstanding scientific paper by a Polish scholar, Dr. Benon Janowski, entitled On distances as a factor of cultural development. A socio-natural study. It employs gravity and potential theory to analyse the economic and socio-economic theory of prices. The first edition was published in Polish in 1908 in Lvov, at that time under Austrian rule.

The College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs has an opening for a non-tenure track Research Associate position as the Director of the Southern Colorado Economic Forum. The faculty member will lead research on Southern Colorado’s economy and direct the annual Southern Colorado Economic Forum.

Nature of Work

The Southern Colorado Economic Forum brings together local experts from the public, private, and academic sectors to report on economic and quality of life conditions in the Pikes Peak Region. Thought of by many as our region's economic "State of the Union," the Forum offers the community an annual snapshot of local economic activity and provides forecasts to help businesses plan for the upcoming year. The Forum also regularly publishes its electronic Quarterly Updates and Estimates which is sent out to the local business community. This cooperative effort is made possible through the partnerships developed between the Forum and its local business sponsors. This long-standing partnership between the academic and business communities has produced timely, accurate, and objective economic data to guide local businesses for over 15 years.

At a minimum this position requires a Ph.D. in Economics, Urban and Regional Planning or related field from an accredited university. Candidates must have experience in conducting regional economic analysis, fundraising and grant writing, as well as experience in economic impact and economic base diversification analysis. The Nectar biannual Conference took place in São Miguel Azores with the support of the NECTAR Secretariat, the Portuguese Regional Science Association (APDR) and the Center for Economic Applied Studies of the Atlantic. It was a stupendous period of exchange of views on transportation, networking and accessibility. Moments that vivified the importance of trust and risk in any scientific meeting in a beautiful  island in the middle of nowhere. Many thanks to Aura, Elisabete and Susana.
