11th International Symposium on Spatial Accuracy Assessment in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences
Kellogg Conference Center, Michigan State University
East Lansing, Michigan, USA
July 8-11, 2014
Abstract submission is open! See the Call for Papers for details!
Welcome! Spatial Accuracy 2014 is the latest in an academic conference series held every two years since 1994 under the auspices of the International Spatial Accuracy Research Association (ISARA). The symposium attracts participants from all over the world, in a diverse range of academic and professional fields, including geography, statistics, and the environmental sciences. More information about the history of this series, including papers presented at previous symposia, is available at the main Spatial Accuracy website.
This is an era boasting unmatched availability of spatial data, ever-expanding computational capacity, and rapid development of complex environmental systems models. On the other hand, the challenges facing environmental science and natural resource management have never been more pressing. Spatial Accuracy 2014 aims to address a broad set of multidisciplinary issues related to a fundamental challenge: the mismatches between geographic reality and the data and models used to characterize that reality.
Communications on cutting edge basic research, as well as their creative and novel applications within this problem domain, are welcomed. Extended abstracts (due January 8, 2014) will be reviewed by the scientific committee; accepted abstracts will be revised as short papers, published in conference proceedings, and presented in oral or poster sessions at the symposium. In addition, the conference also includes workshops on new methods and applications. Post-conference publication options include special issues for two journals.
We hope to see you in East Lansing in July of 2014 to exchange ideas and comraderie! More information about the conference scope, format, publication outlets, and venue are available on this site: http://web2.geo.msu.edu/sa14/index.html

The Regional Science Association International (RSAI) invites regional scientists, policy makers and researchers of related disciplines to participate in the 10th World Congress. The Congress will be hosted by the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University, Bangkok. It will be held at the Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, May 26-30, 2014 on the theme of Socioeconomic Integration and Transformation: Reshaping Local, Regional, and Global Spaces.

Others to be announced |
The Congress will feature several world-renowned keynote speakers on cutting-edge urban and regional science and policy issues, expert panels, research presentations and posters. It will be attended by 500 delegates from the worldwide community of regional scientists.
Research topics related to the theme of the congress are particularly welcome, but the conference will be open to other topics within the broader contours of the regional science, urban and regional studies, geographical sciences and planning, and development.
We invite formal paper presentations as well as posters (new deadline - December 20th, 2013). The abstract submission portal is open, along with the congress registration system. Full information on the venue, abstract submission, registration, schedule of events, accommodation and travel information is posted at http://www.2014worldcongress.regionalscience.org.
Delegates can already register for workshops and tutorials.

Call for Papers – Family Business and Regional Development
Guest Editors
Rodrigo Basco (Witten/Herdecke University)
Joern Block (Universität Trier and Erasmus University Rotterdam)
Roger Stough (George Mason University)

Karl Wennberg (Stockholm School of Economics)
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Guest editors of Journal of Family Business Strategy, I would like to ask you if there is any possibility to help us to promote and disseminate the cal for papers entitled “Family Business and Regional Development”. The aim of this special issue is to examine the role of family firms in regional economic environments and to enhance our understanding of the ways family firms may (or may not) contribute to regional economic growth and development.
This special issue will consider qualitative and quantitative empirical studies, case studies, and more theoretical and conceptual research contributions. The cross-disciplinary nature of current research on family firms suggests that a new understanding of the role family firms play in regional economic development will likely come from a melding of theory and research across fields like regional economics, regional studies, entrepreneurship, geography, business, management, political science, psychology, and sociology.
Please note that the submission deadline is September 15th, 2014. More information and instructions for submission can be found here: Call for Papers. For questions regarding submissions or the content of this Special Issue, authors are welcome to write to one of the guest editors: Mr. Rodrigo Basco (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), Mr. Joern Block (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), or Mr. Karl Wennberg (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). For general questions or inquiries about JFBS, please contact Torsten Pieper, the Assistant Editor, (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
