*The Bartholomew award is awarded to scientists aged less than 33 years (including co-authors) on the 15th of July each year, presenting a paper in a session of APDR Congress. The prize is awarded by a jury of appreciation by the Director of the Portuguese Journal of Regional Studies and two scientists appointed by him. The assessment criteria are: conceptual coherence, relevance to regional science and its impact on regional development.

The Organising Committee of the XI Iberian Conference on Rural Studies invites the submission of abstracts for oral communication or poster presentation. The submission is open on the webpage of XICIER 2016(http://xicier2016.utad.pt), where you can consult the list of topics, as well as other relevant information about the event. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 31 March 2016.

The XICIER 2016 will be held from October 13 to October 15 at theUniversity of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), at Vila Real, Portugal.It is organised by the Centre of Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (CETRAD), the Portuguese Society of Rural Studies (SPER) and the Spanish Association of Agricultural Economics (AEEA). Other partners of the organization of the XICIER 2016 are: the Spanish Association of Geographers, (AGE), the Groups of Rural and Food Sociology from the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES), the Rural Studies Network (RER , Brazil), the Spanish Society of Agrarian History (SEHA) and the Brazilian Society of Economics, Business and Rural Sociology ( SOBER )

The overall theme of the XICIER 2016 is the Smart and inclusive development in rural areas, providing the opportunity to discuss and to analyse ideas, proposals and results of research and actual experience already obtained on the applicability and implementation of smart growth agenda and sustainable and inclusive development in rural areas in different geographical and socio-cultural contexts, especially in Europe and Latin America.

Keynote speakers include André Torre, Andrew Copus, Luis Miguel Albisu. See updates in the conference webpage and/or facebook.

Paper will be published in the proceedings book, best papers will selected for further book publication or for journals available to receive them (information will be released on the webpage)

NECTAR CL 6 is organizing a Joint meeting together with Regional Science Academy on “Geolocalized Data and Accessibility: Benefits and Threats”. 

This meeting will take place in Marne la Vallée, Paris (France), during the 2-4 of June 2016.

Abstracts should be submitted until March 31, 2016.

In light of the March 13th terrorist attack in Ankara and the increasing concerns about security, the 11th World Congress of the RSAI, which was due to take place April 25-28, 2016 in Istanbul has been postponed to a later date. The postponement has been decided at the request of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

We are sorry to communicate this news, especially in light of all the enthusiasm and work that had been put into the preparation of the Congress. But you would appreciate that the security of delegates is of utmost concern to the LOC and the RSAI.

The RSAI is grateful to the LOC and, in particular, to its president, Professor Tüzin Baycan, for the excellent work done in the preparation of the Congress in what have proven to be increasingly difficult circumstances. We are also indebted to all members of the Scientific Committee and especially to its co-chairs, Professors Alpay Filiztekin and Raymond Florax, for their work in evaluating all submissions. We would like to extend also our heartfelt gratitude to the Turkish Ministry of Development for its generous support of the conference and hope that it will continue to support the celebration of the World Congress at a later date and the activities of the Turkish Regional Science Association.

A rescheduling of the congress is being reconsidered with the LOC in light of the evolving security situation.

Fees disbursed by participants will be reimbursed during the coming weeks.

The 10th Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Economic Journal, organized by CeBER, Center for Business and Economics Research, will take place at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, on July 1-3, 2016. The Meeting webpage is http://www.uc.pt/en/feuc/PEJ2016 .

Submissions in all fields of Economics are welcome and should be made through Conference Maker, at
